How to read this calendar
Each day shows an illustrated phase disc. Days highlighted in gold are the month's new moon and full moon. A small tag under a date marks an eclipse or supermoon. Click any date to get a shareable image of that day's moon, or the small zodiac tag to see the moon's zodiac sign that day. Phases are calculated the same way across the whole site, using a mean synodic month algorithm, accurate to within about half a day.
Common questions
How far back or forward can I check?
The calendar accepts any year from 1900 to 2100. The mean synodic month formula stays roughly accurate across that whole range, though real published full moon dates (on the Full Moon Calendar page) are only sourced for 2026.
Why do the New Moon and Full Moon days matter?
They're highlighted because they're the most recognizable phases and the ones most full moon calendars and folklore references are built around -- not because they're calculated any differently from other days.
Is this the same calculation as the Full Moon Calendar page?
The day-by-day phases here use this site's own mean-cycle formula. The Full Moon Calendar page instead uses precisely sourced, independently published dates and times, since those benefit from more precise astronomical modeling than a simple mean-cycle formula provides.
