What Is a Void of Course Moon?

In astrology, the moon is considered void of course once it completes its last major aspect (a conjunction, sextile, square, trine, or opposition) to another planet, and won't form another such aspect before it moves into the next zodiac sign. That gap -- between the last aspect and the sign change -- is the void-of-course window.
What astrologers traditionally say to avoid
Classical astrologers, including the 17th-century horary astrologer William Lilly, generally advised against starting significant new endeavors during a void period -- signing important documents, launching a project, or making a major decision. The traditional interpretation is that things begun during a void tend to not develop as expected, or resolve on their own without needing action.

Contemporary astrologers tend to treat it less as a strict prohibition and more as a natural pause -- a stretch where emotional energy turns inward rather than outward, better suited to rest, reflection, or finishing existing tasks than starting new ones.
